3-D FSI Analysis with Automatic Remeshing

The fully coupled Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) capability of ADINA is a powerful tool for industrial applications. The flow indicator depicted above is an effective demonstration of the robustness and flexibility of ADINA FSI. Visual flow indicators are commonly used in applications where both a visual inspection is critical and a minimum flow rate is required.

In this example, the solid ball movement inside the circular channel is activated by the fluid flow in the tangential duct. The fluid mesh is automatically remeshed in the 3-D transient analysis as the ball travels inside the circular channel. The interactions between the ball and the circular channel wall are modeled using the ADINA contact capability.
